Evaluating Your Situation
When anything new comes our way, we usually have to spend some time evaluating how to think or respond to the situation. Whether or not you already know how you’d like to proceed, spending some time processing is often beneficial. Taking the time to regard your positive pregnancy test with thought and research can help you feel more confident about your decision. Take stock of where your life is at now and consider what a positive pregnancy test means to you. How does this affect your life? Does it take away from where you’re at or bring richness and excitement? At different times of life, we will experience ups and downs, unexpected situations, and difficulties that we must see through in one way or another. But a lot of how we deal with something and come out stronger has to do with the perspective we have going into it!
Finding Appropriate Resources and Support
As you take stock of where you’re at in life, regardless of what pregnancy decision you’ll make, you’ll need resources and support. Learning about procedures, what insurance covers, and recovery times is important for any decision. And if you need a bit more support socially, financially, or in other ways, now is a great time to find it. Finding all of this can feel complicated, and you may find it beneficial to meet with somebody like a pregnancy consultant to help you on your way.
Making a Decision
At one point or another, you will need to decide how you’re moving forward with your pregnancy. Finding the information, support, resources, and strength can help you feel courageous with your decision. Familiarizing yourself with your options and the risks or benefits associated with each is always a good idea. And finding somebody you can trust to confide in and bounce ideas off of can be comforting. You may find having a close friend or family member who supports you helps you have a positive perspective on this situation, but when it comes down to it, it is your choice to make!
Finding resources and a change of perspective can help you get through just about anything! At Avenue Women’s Center, we would love to sit with you and provide access to free resources and services as you figure out which direction to take. Our caring consultants look forward to listening to your story and your concerns!
