Hi! My name is Jan. I joined the Avenue Women’s Center team in January of this year. I get to be one of those who greets you at the front desk when you come in. I make sure to meet you with a smile, because I know searching for pregnancy and abortion alternatives is not an easy thing to do.
In our waiting area, I’m glad to visit with you if you’d like to strike up a conversation before your appointment – maybe about the weather or your job. If you want to be quiet, though, I understand and respect that. When a client comes in with a friend, it pleases me to be able to thank them for being there to be a support.
That Avenue Women’s Center is able to provide free pregnancy tests is such an important part of our service. I love when we get a walk-in client and we can serve her right away. I know you have serious questions and you hope to get answers as soon as possible.
Often I can tell you’re thinking “I’m scared I’m pregnant.” If you leave with relief on your face, I’m glad to believe your test result was negative.
When test results are not negative, I can imagine the questions in your mind: “What should I do now?” “Should I get an abortion?” I know there can be really difficult or complicated situations around an unintended pregnancy.
I’m so grateful to have complete confidence that our Avenue Women’s Center staff members working with you really do care about you. They can process with you about procedures, abortion risks, abortion pill side effects, cost of abortion – all your options and also your personal concerns. I’ve seen the care and genuine concern on their faces, too. I know they will stick with you, beyond your initial visits, ready to be helpful in whatever ways possible.
That’s the kind of place Avenue Women’s Center is. Caring and compassionate; non-judgmental and confidential. We are able to offer free services in Wood Dale, Glen Ellyn / Lombard, Naperville, West Chicago and Elmhurst, Illinois. I may be “just” the receptionist, but I’m part of the team, and I want you to know that we all care for you!
