Want to Give My Child the Best Life

Have you recently found out you are pregnant and are wondering if you can provide for a child? You might be thinking “I want to give my child the best life” but aren’t sure you can do it. It just doesn’t seem like the right time.

Making a pregnancy decision is no easy task. Often considerations such as wanting to give your child the “best life” are at play, among many others. Avenue Women’s Center is a women’s limited medical clinic that has been helping people navigate unplanned pregnancy since 1981. We provide pregnancy tests & confidential options consultations, at no cost. Our experienced client advocates are able to assist you through the decision-making process. More often than not, as much as we try, pregnancy doesn’t occur at the exact time we think we have everything lined up to offer our children that “best life”. So, what is needed to provide the “best life” for your child? What does that look like?

It can sometimes help to write things down so you can figure a couple of things out: a) what you think is important for raising a child in that “best life” and b) where do you stand in being able to provide those things for your child. Some things you might think of could include the following:

– Can I provide for my child’s basic physical needs?

– Do I feel financially stable enough to provide for my child’s needs?

– What kind of support system do I have in place? Father of the baby? Family? Friends?

– What would my child need to feel emotionally secure? Am I equipped to provide for those needs?

– Is it important to me that my child is raised with a spiritual or faith background? Do I feel secure in my own faith?

These are just a few of the things that may come to mind. Once you have listed what it is you think is important for giving the “best life” to your child, go through and think about how well you are equipped to provide for these needs. If you are not currently feeling equipped in one or more areas, the next question to ask is: are there resources available, or ways you can obtain help?

One of the most important factors to keep in mind is that the current situation you are in may not be the case a year from now, five years from now or ten years down the road. You may not feel like you can provide the “best life” for your child with your present circumstances, but what about in the future?
