I Would Choose Parenting if I Had a Stable Job

When life already feels topsy-turvy, adding another challenging situation on top of what seems unstable can be stressful and difficult. Perhaps you find yourself in and out of jobs, or maybe the job you do have isn’t stable. Now, to add more to your situation, you find yourself unexpectedly pregnant. Maybe you were hoping for a stable job and the ability to choose to parent. But instead, your current situation seems too much to handle and you can’t choose parenting without a stable job. Where do you go for support?

Feeling like your circumstances are dictating your pregnancy choice can be distressing. If you feel like you can’t choose to parent because you don’t have a stable job, Avenue Women’s Center is here to help. Our pregnancy consultants are experts at listening to your frustrations, fears, and helping you figure out which steps to take next. Gathering Your Thoughts

The news of pregnancy can be overwhelming and a lot to process. Perhaps you are even somewhat excited at this news but your initial reaction was deflated by your current situation. Having somebody you can talk with about these feelings, ideas, or whatever else you’re experiencing can be beneficial. You may want to talk with a close friend, family member, partner, doctor, or somebody like a pregnancy consultant. Having an outside perspective or just somebody who will listen can be comforting. Perhaps somebody has an idea about a possible job lead or how you can make this work!

Gathering Your Information

With any pregnancy, even if you know what you’re deciding, it’s always a good idea to gather the latest facts about your options and your pregnancy. Considering how adoption could be a good option or figuring out which kind of abortion you’d be eligible for are good steps to take. An ultrasound exam is a great way to determine whether your pregnancy will continue naturally or end on its own.

Gathering Your Resources

It is so important to take a look at what resources and support are available to you! At Avenue, we would love to connect you with pregnancy resources to help make your path a bit smoother. You are never alone as you walk this path. Many people are available to help you and give assistance in any way possible, including with work.

Feeling like you have to make a decision you don’t want to is so difficult. We never want any woman to feel like she is alone in her challenging circumstances. At Avenue, we’d love to partner with you in any way that we can to help you in your pregnancy decision. Even if you just need space to talk or would like to schedule an ultrasound exam, we’d love to provide both of those for you.
