How Do You Choose When Both Options Are Hard?
If life was easy there would always be clear choices when faced with a new circumstance. However, this isn’t always the case and sometimes it’s hard to choose. When faced with an unexpected pregnancy, you have several options. Perhaps you’ve thought through abortion, adoption, and parenting, and you recognize that there are going to be potential consequences for whichever choice you make.
Sometimes feeling like there’s no clear way out can lead to overthinking and anxiety. This can keep you from going forward with making a decision. This is considered ‘analysis paralysis’ and is largely caused by a fear of making the wrong or right decision and being worried about the consequences.
Listening to Other Perspectives
If you find yourself frozen to the spot, it may be helpful to have an outside perspective on your situation. Talking with either a trusted friend or family member or perhaps a professional can lend insight that may help you.
Coming to Terms With Difficulty
It’s also possible that you may need to come to terms with the difficulty. Remember that our choices in life often bring consequences but often bring about good things as well. Weighing the pros and cons of your pregnancy options can be a good step toward figuring out which difficult decision is the best decision for you.
Remember Your Strength
Lastly, sometimes when we feel stuck it is because we are ultimately afraid. You may find it helpful to look back on your life, recognizing all that you have overcome, accomplished, and are proud of! Seeing your support system and remembering how strong and capable you are is a good step toward making a choice you are comfortable with.
Having an unbiased professional to talk with about your options can be helpful. Our expert pregnancy consultants will listen to you, offering you any available resources or information to aid in your decision-making process. We want you to know that you are not alone and you do not have to feel like you are stuck. You can do this!
