What Can I Do If My Partner Doesn’t Support My Pregnancy?

If you’re facing an unexpected pregnancy and your partner doesn’t support you, you’re likely feeling alone and overwhelmed. Your feelings are understandable, but you’re not alone. Resources are available to help you feel supported and encouraged in your pregnancy.

Read on to learn more about these resources. Or, if you want to talk to someone in person about your pregnancy and discover free services and support, contact Avenue Women’s Center today to be connected to one of our caring team members.

You Have Options

Not having your partner’s support during a pregnancy is difficult, and you might wonder how to move forward. If you don’t want to terminate your pregnancy, your other options are parenting and adoption.  Both choices are achievable, no matter your current situation.

When considering what option is right for you and your situation, it can help to explore your answers to the following questions:

  • Do I have support from my family or friends? If not, where can I find emotional support in my community? (For example, support groups, professional counselors, spiritual communities, etc.)
  • What might each pregnancy option look like in my life?
  • Do I know what’s involved with each pregnancy option? If not, where can I go to have my questions answered?

While these questions can help you start thinking about what choice is best for you, talking to someone about your concerns can also be beneficial. At Avenue Women’s Center, we offer a free Pregnancy Consultation, where we provide the space for you to ask questions and learn more about your options.

Pregnancy Support

No matter your age or economic situation, you can move forward in your pregnancy and choose to parent if that’s an option you feel drawn to. Resources are available to help if you make this choice.

At Avenue Women’s Center, we will pair you with a client advocate who will help you learn more about:

  • Parenting support programs available to you
  • How to get prenatal care if you have no insurance
  • Medical care
  • Financial aid
  • Professional counseling resources
