Information That’s Important to Have Before You Move Forward
Let’s explore some key pieces of information that will help you make an informed pregnancy decision.
Knowledge of Your Unique Pregnancy.
Of course, it’s always wise to begin with a medical-grade pregnancy test. If your result is positive, strongly consider getting an ultrasound scan. An ultrasound serves many purposes:
1) A scan identifies how far along you are. If you’re considering abortion, this will narrow down which abortion method(s) you’re eligible for.
2) A scan determines where the pregnancy is located. An ectopic pregnancy is a pregnancy located outside the uterus, and a situation like this requires immediate medical attention. So, it’s the best thing for your health and safety to find out if your pregnancy is ectopic.
3) A scan evaluates the health and viability of your pregnancy, and the possibility of miscarriage. This information may be especially helpful to know if you’re considering abortion, because the pregnancy may end on its own (making abortion unnecessary).
At Avenue Women’s Center, we offer free lab-quality pregnancy tests and limited medical ultrasounds!
An Understanding of Your Pregnancy Options.
Each of your options (abortion, adoption, and parenting) comes with its own potential risks. Knowing this causes many women to feel uneasy. However, Avenue Women’s Center is here to offer accurate information on every option in language that’s clear and easy to understand. Women often have questions about the options they’re considering. And it’s wise to ask these questions, because any of your pregnancy options could affect your physical and emotional health. Our pregnancy consultants are available to provide answers at a time that’s convenient for you, with warmth and neutrality. We’re a judgment-free zone!
Information About Available Resources.
Chances are, your community offers tons of practical resources to help with material and financial needs, health care, housing, education… the list goes on. Sometimes, an awareness of resources plays a critical role in a woman’s pregnancy decision. Maybe you’re considering parenting, but you don’t believe you have the resources and support you need to choose this path. Learning about the practical help your community offers could make a huge difference. Our team members at Avenue can go over this information by your side. We also recognize that emotional support is a critical resource. So, we’d love to be a key part of your support system (if you’d like us to be), while connecting you with additional sources of caring support.
