Many women who have an abortion are not feeling that they never want to become a mother. Rather, they are convinced that they just couldn’t have a child at that time. In a 2009 study, 18.5% of the participants became pregnant in the 12 months following an abortion.[1] Some women become pregnant again due to life circumstances that haven’t changed and some women report a strong desire to become pregnant again after abortion. Sometimes it just happens.
But what if you’re pregnant again after abortion and it’s still not the timing you’d anticipated or hoped for? Please take comfort that you’re not the only one to find yourself in this situation. All of us face situations that we don’t plan or expect.
At Avenue Women’s Center we understand that life does not always operate under ideal circumstances, and we want to help. If you are in Chicagoland and are facing being pregnant again after abortion, we invite you to contact us. We offer free consultations, and are here to help you process your personal concerns and next steps.
At the time of your past abortion, you made the best decision you could. Your current circumstances may be similar, but that doesn’t mean everything in your life is the same … or will remain the same nine months from now. We want you to feel free to fully explore and again make your best decision for today.
- How did you feel when you made your previous decision?
- What were your primary reasons for choosing to abort?
- Did you feel any outside pressure in your last situation?
- What pressures are you facing today?
- How might your relationships be affected by an abortion?
- How might this termination be similar or different than the previous one?
It can be helpful to have a confidential, non-judgmental listening ear as you work through the questions you are facing. May we help you as you explore what your best decision is today?
