Worth the Wait

Avenue Women’s Center’s five locations will be closed for Holiday Break from Friday, December 22, 2017 through Monday, January 1, 2018. All of our offices will reopen at 9am on Tuesday, January 2nd. Please be sure to leave us a message and we will contact you back as soon as we reopen.

Women hear the phrase “You just have to wait…” all the time. Whether we are waiting for that special someone to come along, waiting for that perfect job to fall into place or maybe even waiting for a special day to arrive, the bottom line is…waiting can be hard. We understand that. At Avenue Women’s Center, we want you to know that your situation and concerns are incredibly important to us. Even though we will be away on break for a short time, we want you to know that we care about you, and want to help. Facing an unplanned pregnancy, or wanting answers on your options, may seem urgent, but more often than not, it’s good to give yourself some time and space to process. Though we will be gone for Holiday Break, I promise that coming to Avenue Women’s Center is worth the wait. We are not only able to provide free and confidential services, but we are able to provide you those services with excellence, care and support. We truly understand that waiting can feel unnerving, but giving yourself time, and by coming to talk with a caring, pregnancy consultant at Avenue Women’s Center, we are sure you will feel confident when moving forward with your next steps.

While you wait for the Avenue Women’s Center staff to get back into the office, here are a few steps you can take:

1.) Leave us a message! Whether it’s a voice mail, text message or email, we want to know who you are and how we can help. By leaving us your name and number, what services you are looking for and the best way to reach you, we will be able to get the ball rolling on setting up that appointment for you as soon as we come back.

2.) Don’t stress! Easier said than done, right?! It’s easy to let our minds take control, and focus on thoughts that cause us stress and anxiety. While you wait, try and do some things that make you feel happy. Whether that’s hanging out with friends, exercising or maybe there’s a certain hobby you enjoy, try to engage in activities that build you up. Whatever it might be, use this time of waiting to really indulge in the things you love. We understand that our circumstances can sometimes cause us angst. But don’t let the worry for tomorrow rob you of your joy today!

3.) Focus on your health! Sometimes when we are anxious or worried about something, we often forget to take good care of ourselves. While you’re in this period of waiting, take time to fill your body with good, nutritious foods; get some exercise, even if it’s just a walk; and strive to get some good sleep! When we take care of our bodies, it helps re-energize our brains, which will help us think more clearly, and make better decisions.

We truly look forward to hearing from you, and in aiding you in getting the best help and answers for your situation. We thank you for your patience with our closure! We promise we are worth the wait. See you soon!
