Spring is officially here! As refreshing as it may be to bask in the warm weather and watch the flowers bloom, unfortunately, springtime isn’t all sunshine and blossoms. This is also the season of standardized testing and final exams. Maybe you’re a high school or college student who’s facing an unexpected pregnancy on top of school-year-end stress (as if either of these wasn’t overwhelming enough on its own). You may be feeling like your circumstances are way too much to process. Thankfully, you don’t have to figure out your next steps without support.
Avenue Women’s Center is here for you. We’re an early pregnancy center and limited medical clinic that’s dedicated to helping women navigate unexpected pregnancies with confidence. We do this by equipping individuals with the tools and information they need to identify and pursue their own best paths.

You’ve Got This
It’s easy to feel isolated in the middle of an unexpected pregnancy. Chances are, only a few people in your life (if any) know about this personal and sensitive situation. You may worry that the news of your pregnancy would be met with disapproval, disappointment, stigma, or even anger by some. Our caring team at Avenue is available to meet you in those circumstances with empathy and encouragement- never judgment. You’re not alone. You’re going through a difficult time of life, but it’s only for a season, and you have the resources (both within and beyond yourself) to cope. You’ve got this!
Simple First Steps
You obviously have a ton on your plate right now. Our Avenue pregnancy consultants and nurses aim to make the first steps of managing an unexpected pregnancy as seamless as possible. We start by providing a free medical-grade pregnancy test followed by a pregnancy consultation. The purpose of a consultation is to help you emotionally process your test result, get clear information about your options (abortion, adoption, and parenting), and discover your available resources. Here, options information is holistic, easy to understand, and, of course, completely accurate. We can often schedule appointments same-day, and we provide services at five conveniently located clinics in Chicagoland, as well as virtually (for options consultations). Your schedule may be full and your stress level high. But it’s important to process your feelings about this pregnancy and walk this road one step at a time. Avenue can help you balance moving forward while taking the needed time for self-reflection.
Coping with Overwhelming Anxiety
Dealing with huge amounts of stress in different areas of your life is never easy. But again, this season will pass. It’s wise (and definitely possible) to make a pregnancy decision that you’ll feel confident in going forward, when all of this is long behind you. Finding healthy ways to manage your anxiety can help you achieve that. Check out some of our other blogs on the topic of coping with pregnancy stress in the middle of circumstances like yours.
